Gathering is simple. It was created by me (@lukesbeard) to collect inspirational images/video that I come across everyday.
The site was inspired and heavily influenced by sites like fffound, Image Spark, Yayeveryday and Dropular.
Gathering is powered by the awesome tumblr platform. This was my first dive into their theme framework and I don’t think I could praise it more. I suggest you take a look.
Their bookmarklet is one of the main reasons I went with tumblr as it’s super fast and easy to publish a post in just one click.
jQuery provides the JavaScript fun. A few plug-ins at work here. jQuery Masonry by David DeSandro creates the neat alignment of content. Also try and resize your browsers width (neat aye?).The youtube embeds are made badass thanks to the ‘Improving the YouTube Player’ script by Matthew Buchanan.
If you are using Safari or Chrome you will notice the nifty web-kit scrollbar and CSS3 transitions on the menu links. If you are not using Safari or Chrome you are not invited to the party.
